Our Story

The Story of KARPINO

KARPINO is more than a wellness studio. It is a space where the ancient wisdom of Macedonian earth meets the artistry of modern therapeutic care. Nestled in the heart of Skopje, KARPINO was born from a vision to create a sanctuary where every visitor can reconnect with their inner energy.

The name KARPINO draws its inspiration from the Karpino Monastery, a historic spiritual center near Kumanovo. For centuries, this monastery served as a place of healing, literacy, and quiet contemplation. In this same spirit, our studio offers treatments that restore not just the body, but the soul.

Every detail of our space has been thoughtfully crafted: from the carefully selected products and therapeutic techniques to the ambient design of each room, inspired by Macedonia’s most extraordinary natural formations.

The KARPINO Spirit

The Karpino Monastery, dedicated to the Presentation of the Virgin Mary, has stood for centuries as a beacon of endurance, refinement, and quiet strength. Located in the Suvi Orah region near Kumanovo, it was historically a center of literacy, spiritual discipline, and healing.

This spirit of care and cultivation lives on in everything we do. Like the monastery that inspired our name, KARPINO is a place where time slows down, where attention to detail is paramount, and where every visit is an opportunity for renewal.

Our Rooms

Wisdom, cosmic balance, timeless human search for light & meaning

Kokino

Perched atop a volcanic hill near Kumanovo, Kokino is one of the world's oldest astronomical observatories — dating to the 19th century BCE. Ancient stone markers were precisely positioned to track the movements of the Sun and Moon across the seasons. For millennia, this site connected the earthly with the celestial, serving as a place of ritual, observation, and profound wonder. Our Kokino room carries this spirit of cosmic clarity — a space where the mind quiets, perspective widens, and balance is restored.

Feminine strength, beauty, intuition, quiet power of presence

Moma

Rising 67 meters above Selečka Mountain near Prilep, Moma — the Maiden — is a rock formation whose profile unmistakably resembles a young woman gazing into the distance. Since ancient times, she has been associated with the Great Mother archetype: feminine strength expressed not through force, but through presence, intuition, and enduring grace. Our Moma room is a sanctuary of exactly these qualities — a space that honours the quiet power within, where softness and strength coexist in perfect balance.

Victory of good over evil, resilience and perseverance

Devil's Wall

In the village of Grlishki Dol near Sveti Nikole stands a formation of stone that legend says the devil himself tried to build. His plan was to dam the river and flood the fertile Ovche Pole plain — but God awakened a rooster before the wall was complete, and its crow shattered the devil's work at dawn. The stones remain as testimony: evil may build, but good always prevails. Our Devil's Wall room embodies this spirit of resilience — a space where tension dissolves, obstacles fall away, and renewal begins.

Importance of honesty, sincerity, and truth in love

Kuklica

Near the town of Kratovo, over 135 stone figures stand silently in the landscape — some towering over 10 meters high. Legend tells of a young man who tried to marry two women on the same day. When his deceit was discovered, a heartbroken girl cursed the entire wedding party, turning every guest to stone. The 'dolls' — kukli in Macedonian — remain as a reminder that love demands truth above all else. Our Kuklica room is inspired by this sincerity — a space where authenticity is honoured, and genuine care is the only language spoken.
